President, Broadland Advisors, USA

For twenty-five years Lucas has started-up companies, advised technology startups and managed business ventures in the US, EU and Asia. He has organized projects with major life science, info technology, entertainment and publishing firms as well as with research institutes.


Lucas is President of Broadland Advisors, a venture development and management consulting firm based in Boston, USA. Broadland works with clients around the world to develop new businesses, commercialize technologies and establish partnerships.


Lucas' current projects focus upon personalized health, the integration of digital devices into health management, and the application of data to transform healthcare - and the new intermediaries that could result.


Lucas serves as Advisor to BGI. He works with Hong Kong agencies on technology initiatives. Lucas has also been involved in the founding of aging research projects in China. And he collaborates with Boston area universities on China initiatives.  Lucas has worked with Chinese organizations since the early 1990s'. 


Lucas is active in the Boston startup community where he advises ventures in AI/machine learning, biotech, digital devices, diagnostic services and personalized health applications. He is a member of MIT's Venture Mentoring Service, the organization set up by the university to advise ventures coming out of its labs and startups founded by students, faculty and alumni.


Prior to founding Broadland, Lucas served as senior executive with a Boston-based management company where he started-up ventures in the entertainment, interactive entertainment, food services and property management sectors. He has also participated in two financial services startups.


Lucas was one of the founders of the Boston World Trade Center, where he established ties between Boston's tech community and those of foreign nations. He has worked with dozens of foreign governments and industry organizations on trade and economic development programs.


Lucas has degrees from Tulane University (BArch), Harvard University (MCRP), and The Wharton School/University of Pennsylvania (MBA).
