Xue GAO

Dr. Xue Gao is the Ted N. Law Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Rice University. She was a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, working in the laboratory of Professor David R. Liu, where she developed treatment of genetic hearing diseases by in vivo delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing agents. Dr. Gao obtained her doctoral degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles. Her graduate research in Professor Yi Tang's laboratory focused on the investigation of enzymatic mechanisms of fungal natural products biosynthesis and further engineering of enzymes as powerful catalysts for manufacturing important pharmaceuticals. Dr. Gao received both of her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering at Tianjin University with the guidance of Prof. Yingjin Yuan.
