R&D Leader Synthetic Biology, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Germany

Axel Trefzer received his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Tübingen, Germany. He started his industrial career with Diversa Corporation followed by positions of increasing responsibilities at Invitrogen and DSM. In 2011 he joined Lifetechnologies (now ThermoFisher Scientific) at its Geneart site, where he now leads a R&D team as part of the Synthetic Biology business and continues to develop new technologies and applications for DNA-synthesis. In his career Axel has acquired a broad scientific background with a focus on industrial biotechnology and research tools. Since a number of years Axel has been an active member of the Synthetic Biology community in both the US and Europe.
