Consultant, International Affairs in Asia and Latin-America, Peru

Mr. Alfredo Jefferson is a native of Peru and has accumulated a vast experience, working in socio-economic development for over 30 years.


The bulk of his career was with the United Nations Development Program where he worked for more than 20 years. During that period, he assumed increasing management responsibilities in countries such as Guinea-Bissau, Angola, Brazil, Venezuela, Barbados, Panama, and in headquarters (New York). He was the Director of the Regional Knowledge Center for Latin-America and the Caribbean, based in Panama. While stationed at UNDP headquarters, he held many positions within the Regional Bureau for Latin-America and Caribbean, including Chief of Operations for MERCOSUR, Representative to the Executive Board of UNDP, and Coordinator of the Private Sector Division.


Mr. Jefferson represented UNDP in numerous conferences and events around the world, such as the United Nations Conference On Human Settlements, Istanbul, Turkey (1996), and the Partners for Development Meeting organized by UNCTAD and the City of Lyon, France (1998).


Upon retirement from UNDP, he worked as a senior advisor to the CEO of the High-Tech Development Zone of Nanjing (2008-2009), then as a senior advisor to the UNDP office in Beijing (2013) and currently works as a consultant in International Affairs in Asia and Latin-America.


He earned a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics, a Master of Arts in Economics from California State University and an Engineer degree in Food Industries from the Agrarian University of Peru. He was a Fulbright scholar while pursuing his postgraduate studies.


He has excellent communication skills. He is fluent in Spanish, English, French, Portuguese and Italian. He also has a good command of Mandarin.
