Prof. Dr. Günther Bonn received his PhD from the University of Innsbruck in 1979 and continued to work there reaching the position of Assistant Professor in 1989. In 1988 he also spent time as a visiting professor at Yale University working with Prof. Csaba Horvath, one of the pioneers in modern HPLC. In 1991 he moved to the University of Linz (Austria) as Professor of Analytical Chemistry and became then Head of the Department. In 1995 he was appointed Professor at the University of Innsbruck and since 1996 he is the Head of the Institute of Analytical Chemistry and Radiochemistry. Prof. Bonn’s research focus is mainly based on the development of new, selective and sensitive methods in phytochemistry, metabolomics, proteomics, separation science and drug screening. In addition to his academic scientific career, he holds important positions in scientific and government research committees. Prof. Bonn was a member of the Fachhochschulrat (Council of Universities of Applied Sciences) and the Austrian Science Fund (FWF, Vienna). From 2000 to 2010, he was Vice President of the Austrian Council for Science and Research Development. Moreover, he served as the Vice President of the Board of the Innsbruck Medical University from 2008 to 2013. Since 2006 he is the Head of the Austrian Chinese Biomarker Discovery Center at the Peking University in Beijing. Furthermore, Prof. Günther Bonn has longtime industry connections and leads numerous scientific projects together with industrial companies in Austria and abroad. Since 2012 he is the Scientific Director of the Analytical Division of the Austrian Drug Screening Institute (ADSI), which is a new research enterprise of the University of Innsbruck that offers drug screening services for pharmaceutical companies and academic research institutions. Prof. Bonn received many national and international awards, including the Halasz' Award, the Csaba Horváth Memorial Award, the A.J.P. Martin Medal and the Honorary Ring of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Professor Bonn’s broad scientific expertise is well recognized by his peers. He is a member of the editorial boards for Chromatographia, the Journal of Chromatographic Science, LC-GC- Europe, Current Medicinal Chemistry, Current Analytical Chemistry, Biomedical Chromatography and Bioanalytical Reviews. As an author, he has published more than 350 peer-reviewed papers, 3 books and is cited as an author on 29 patents. His articles have been quoted 6870 times.
